The Living Desert-Coyote Dreams

My friend, Jackie, and I went to The Living Desert [livingdesert.org] on Friday. These are some of the coyotes there.

When I had more discipline and before they “civilized” the bike path, I used to see coyotes on it when I ran before dawn. They would fly by me, both of us looking over our shoulders at each other. But they were a lot leaner than these were.

I dreamt of a golden coyote once. I think it was a warning or an omen about something I feared. And the thing that I feared came to pass…

P.S. The Living Desert is not just a zoo. They are about preserving the wildness of our desert and the species in it. Please read their mission statement [livingdesert.org].

i'm not a rancher or a pet-owner in a gated community on the edge of the wilderness, so i'm sure my thoughts are not pragmatic, but i've always admired the coyote. its trickster designation is well earned.

Interesting animals and photos. I'm glad there is still some wildness in them.

Wow... what a great set. Interesting about the Golden Coyote and fear. Maybe it was telling you that you would come out on the other side of your fear.
