Can't get a mortgage for that Mate!

For many years I've walked past this property and always believed it would make a weekend hide-away overlooking the North Sea but sadly it was not to be, because it stands on a coastline that is slowly being eroded away by high tides and strong winds. To build any property near a coast you would have to make a good case for a mortgage, and be in a very good financial position to support the loan.

While mankind is doing their best to destroy our planet, mother nature is continuing to do her best with the erosion of the UK coastline and when she's not in a good mood there is no holding back.

As my old manger used to say "man-kind will never beat water" regardless of building good defences, water will always find a weakness and with climate change, sea levels will claim more homes, roads and fields around the coast.

This WW2 coastal defence structure is now laying a football pitch length away from its original position on the cliff top (80ft high).

Not all erosion is bad, without it for example, there would be no beaches
