About a week ago, Genthin Thomas wrote this on his blog:
When I took this image about ten years ago it struck me as quite oriental in composition, reminding me of a Japanese print or Chinese table ware like the Willow Pattern. So I messed around with it in Photoshop to produce a porcelain plate effect. I've just stumbled on it today and for the life of me I cannot remember how I did it. I am now an Affinity boy anyway so it would be a different method.
He then issued this challenge:
How about a challenge to all Photobloggers out there?
If you want a bit of fun or a challenge, find an image in your back catalogue you think might work and have a go and see if you can replicate the effect?
I think the critical factors are an image that will work high contrast in monochrome that is quite stylised. The porcelain white and that particular blue, is it ultramarine? And the slight bleeding of the blue into the white.
Sorry there are no prizes.
So, this I how I propose we do this. Go to the following forum and post your single entry in the messages by 02/15/21. https://www.photoblog.com/forum/t/porcelain-challenge/582634 I will assemble them into a blog for voting later.
Let's have fun with this.
