Prize Winning Cow

Okay - I did it. I pushed aside all intimidating feelings and dove right in to Darktable to adjust a color photo into monochrome. Tawnya the conqueror. Hah!

I've read online to take photos in color and then adjust them in an image manipulation program. Pfft...I totally get it now. I rocked this cow! lol

Yes, I was amazed at how the textures popped after the conversion. grinning

I was surprised to see more textures while I was processing it - they just popped! It was fun to see.

Great job with the conversion . I tried darktable one time and got frustrated but that was several years ago. If you have some time on your hand check out NikCollections . I am not sure how much of a pain it would be to install but  I love using NikSilverEffects for black and white . If I remember correctly it will run on Wine and load off of Gimp.

Hey Mr. Smith! Yeah, I downloaded and tried to install and run through Wine, but I hit a bump in the install. I think it's a no-go in the end for Linux but I will do some more research. Not in a rush though. I'm really lovin' the Darktable. I just installed RawTherapy to check out too - but Darktable has 47 modules that are quite impressive.

You should try Topaz B&W effects. Amazing and cheap

You know Antonio,  I think I'll snoop around online and see what I can discover. I run Linux  (purple heart !) on my box instead of Windows or Mac. The developers are usually really good at coming up with alternative programs. But I'm interested in learning more about Topaz - learning new stuff in general - so it's a great suggestion. Thanks! (So glad this site revamped - ignited new interest for me.)
