This surprising flower seemed to have grown from out of nowhere. Far back in the yard against the fence where no one ever ventrues - because there's nothing to see - we noticed that things had become a bit denser with wild weeds, we were sure, growing.

By some magic act of nature, and surely a bird dropping or two, a passion fruit plant took root and developed into a flowering marvel. Fortunately it's not near many other plants as it seems to grow quite quickly, in a smothering manner. Fruit is developing, though still green. We look forward to tasting them.

I've heard people say they can take over a garden quickly! love the dark vignette around this little beauty!

I can confirm it does. It takes quite a bit of pruning to keep it under control.

Oh man, I want one of these. First time I saw them growing was in Florida. They are pretty as heck. At seeing them blooming I thought I should have kept some seeds after eating the fruit and planted them in my yard (hind sights 20/20), sadly did not and the fruit is not in season in my area. Very nice capture!

The flower is original to say the least! We have some fruit that should ripen soon! I think this is a wild version as I've never seen this color in nurseries.
