After an interesting, busy week (so far) at work, I came home with a few hours to rest before heading over to a friend's place. After I did some cleaning and laundry, I saw my camera, sitting on my table, waiting to be used. I noticed also, that the light was getting low outside, so I didn't have much chance of getting to a suitable spot for a sunset picture.
After surveying my apartment, I realized I had a bright enough light, a watch that I find aesthetically pleasing, and a black card table, which makes a good background for just about anything. A few minutes of rearranging, pulling out my tripod (which happened on the second try, the first try yielded a bike repair stand) and voila ! my own crappy studio background to play with.
As far as the reason for black and white photos, I have a tendency to like black and white for anything with a narrow depth of field or anything with a mechanical influence.
These pictures were taken in an effort to mess around with portraits of objects… in hopes of learning to better take portrait type pictures. I hope you enjoy.

Fantastic set!!
