MS Ride 2011 (part 1)

MS is a horrible disease. Unpredictable and cruel, it can easily ruin lives. The MS Society needs money for research and patient treatment. This is where we come in.

Through many generous donations from friends and family, I raised $895 for the MS Society this year. This money was granted, of course, alongside the knowledge that I was riding in a 150 mile bike ride, spread out over 2 days (75 mi. Saturday, 75 mi. Sunday). This was my second year participating and it is a fantastic mixture of fun, supporting a good cause, and meeting people.

The ride is a humbling experience, especially when you find out that many that rode adjacent to you have MS. Learning about their lives, their goals, their unbroken spirits and their trials is something I truly enjoy. I can't say enough about how well organized the ride is, what a difference it makes in people's lives, and how amazing it is to meet people struggling well with MS.

In preparation for the ride, I bought the tough camera pictured above, with the realization that the quality of the photos would not rival my SLR. That said, I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out (the camera was dropped a few times and soaked in two rainstorms -it also encountered a flood of sweat sitting squarely in the middle pocket on the back of my jersey) and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

One day, when I own a house with a porch, I'll have all my friends over and it will look something like this…

Low Tide

Did I mention the end of the first day's ride was a beach?
