From the trailhead, the old, simple fire lookout is nothing more than a white dot. When you approach it from the steep ending of the 3.2 mile trail with 1400 feet of elevation gain, it appears to be the perfect location for lunch. The cliffs quickly and violently drop into an expansive valley, which quietly surrounds Mount Rainier. If you can pry your eyes away from all of that beauty, Mount Adams stands tall in the opposite direction.
