Daycare opened back up for the girls, so I've had some great one on one time with Caleb. We got into the habit of riding bikes every single morning; most days just around our neighborhood, but a few times we wandered out to different trails.
I bought this pool a few years ago, but it was too big at the moment for an itty bitty Selena and a water-averse Caleb, ha. This year, it was a great fit for the whole family!
We participated as a family in 2 virtual protests. A lot to process.
Big Ben and Welita's house pool provides respite from the heat!
For 3 whole weeks it was just me and Caleb every morning. Riding our bikes, competing on Fitbit steps and active minutes, talking, and cuddling.
I got really brave and went to an actual public indoor place, ha (remember we used to be able to do that sort of thing, crazy)! I was really impressed with the safety protocols they put in place here, without taking away the fun :)
Caleb had a blast during our one-hour reserved spot. He's so bright, I love these kinds of opportunities where I can see his creativity at work.
A giant carrot! You are not going to believe this, but: Caleb ate most of it. For real.
Nature adventures: we identified every color of flower, found a nest on the ground, gently caught fireflies in our hand (then let them go, of course), watched a mamma bird feed its baby bird, learned which flowers needed watering and pruning, identified different types of clouds, and on and on.
On one of the last days before Caleb started summer camp, Ben and I took him to the indoor rock climbing gym. I wasn't sure if he was going to like it or not. Should not have surprised me that he caught on very quickly and loved every minute! Fearless kid!
Visit from cousin Sydney.
Our summer is going well so far. The girls are back at daycare, Caleb started camp at the end of the month, and I went "back" to work (I technically never left... also am I really back? haha, hard to tell honestly, life is different)
We are all healthy, happy, and as well-adjusted as can be under the circumstances!
