We landed in Athens mid-February. We knew it would not be a beach vacation, but we also knew we would not have to fight crowds and the heat to see the the Acropolis and walk the city streets. We were right!

If you are interested in hiking around Athens here is a good link.
We stayed in an Airbnb close to the metro and used that to get us all around the city. Our apartment was comfortable and close enough we could walk to the Acropolis and to grocery stores. We had hoped to do a day trip to a close by island but the children ate some bad frozen yogurt and ended up with food poisoning, which kept us at home for several days. It was disappointing, but it was also nice to just slow down and enjoy a few days of rest.
They recovered in time to pack up and clean up for our early morning flight. Next we are off to Rome!
