Hidden Hot Springs

by Yokai - September. 03, 2013 6938 views

To enjoy Jinata-onsen(地鉈温泉) in Shikine-jima Island(式根島), it takes 10 hours by ferry from Tokyo.
In order to keep beautiful nature, tourists are not allowed to carry their cars to this island. I used a bicycle to take a bath.

Walking through an impressive canyon,

I reached Jinata-onsen (地鉈温泉) at last !
Onsen means “ hot springs ”.

The temperature of the water depends on how close to the spring and the sea, since hot springs and sea waters mix together.

I found a spot with the temperature suiting me the best.

I was lucky enough to be the only one soaking there. (^^)v

The blue sea, the green water and the orange rocks look fantastic, I guess the color is due to the minerals in the water. Very inviting and a great idea not permitting cars on this island.
